Regular Route

▌25/1 Sat 2:30-5:30pm
▌23/2 Sun 9:30am-12:30pm
▌23/3 Sun 9:30am-12:30pm

Nam Chung, located in the Sha Tau Kok inlet, is a small place with a variety of habitats such as mangroves, reed beds, mudflats, ponds, lowland farmland, and feng shui woods. The villagers have settled here for nearly four hundred years, and the mountains and rivers embody the life wisdom of the Hakka people in the New Territories, who live off the mountains and the sea.

*This is a classic route, mostly flat, suitable for those who visit Nam Chung for the first time or wish to revisit old haunts!

Mountain Route

▌8/3 Sat 2:30-5:30pm

After years of closure, Wen Tsing Tong was recently reopened, giving us the opportunity to visit this rare Hakka aunt’s house in a mountainous village. It used to be a space for women to live independently, a place for self-sufficient farming, a Buddhist temple for worship and meditation, and now it is also a sacred place for spiritual music practice.

*The route starts with an uphill climb, but the road is wide and the whole route is on concrete, which is very safe.If you have knee problems, please consider carefully whether it is suitable for you to participate.

Coastal Route

12/4 Sat 2:30-5:30pm

From Luk Keng, Nam Chung, Shoulder Head Down to Yen Chow Head Down, along the man-made coastline that has changed over the generations, you will enjoy the beautiful scenery and natural ecology of the Sha Tau Kok Sea while witnessing the history of the humanistic construction of Nam Luk (Nam Chung, Luk Keng) over the past three centuries: water gates, villages, ash kilns, study halls and temples. …… history has never been so vividly alive and vividly moving.

During the tour, we will have refreshments at the rare Ming O Academy (Nam Chung Siu Wong Uk). You are cordially invited to join this cultural tour!

*The route is along the coastline and the whole journey is on a flat road, suitable for young and old alike.

Luk Keng Hill

▌2/2 Sun 9:30am-12:30pm

From the shores of Nam Chung, follow the footsteps of the anti-Japanese guerrillas to the earliest base of anti-Japanese resistance in Hong Kong.

Climb up the mountain path where villagers were forced to build forts, and look for the remains of Japanese machine-gun forts and trenches from World War II.

Overlooking the landscape of Luk Keng in Nam Chung, you will feel the beauty of the earth and sky, and marvel at the preciousness of peace.

*This route involves hiking and some parts of the trail are steep and narrow. The entire route is in full sunlight, without any shade, and there is no water or food supply along the way. Please consider your personal situation carefully when signing up.
