Community History

The Nam Chung-Luk Keng Community History Working Group was established in 2017. It comprises Nam Chung Community Members and volunteers interested in community oral history work. Through this project, we hope to record and preserve the community’s valuable living moments and, in the process, build a deeper connection with the place and its people. At the Nam Luk Shi Jiao Festival (南鹿社太平清醮) in 2019, we published the ‘Nam Chung-Luk Keng, Tai Ping Ching Chiu 2019 – COMMUNITY PHOTO BOOK’ (《南鹿社己亥年（2019）太平清醮社區照片集》),  which contains photographs of the landscape of Nam Luk from the 1950s to the 1980s. A three-day exhibition on the village’s history was organized and held at the Ming O Hall (明O學堂) (the former residence of Mr. Ng Hsuan Ming (吳宣明老師), who taught at the Nam Chung School (南涌學校)).
