The group aims to re-establish relationships among people, food, and land. At PNEC, we emphasize hands-on work and sensory experience, which is why education does not take place in a typical classroom setting, nor is it a one-way knowledge transfer. Each Food Farming Workshop takes place in the farm and community kitchen in Nam Chung, and consists of four major parts: community connections, co-learning and -cooking, sensory mindful eating, and closing sharings. We use only local seasonal produce. This outline design is to:
- enable participants to build up a contextualized understanding of the ecological community in Nam Chung;
- re-conceptualize the relationship among food, land, nature and people in a brand new dimension through mindful appreciation of food; and
- facilitate individuals/communities to reflect on the value of alternative lifestyles which have their basis in village and land.
